Research Interests

  • Medieval Literatures and Cultures:
    • Sexuality, gender and transgression, particularly in Middle English and related literatures
    • Particular interests in Middle English romance, both Old and Middle English religious texts, and Chaucerian narratives
    • European medieval literatures, especially Arthuriana and romance narratives
    • Translation and adaptation in medieval literary culture
  • Theory and methodologies:
    • Gender and queer theory
    • History of sexuality and obscenity
    • History of emotions, particularly as pertains to friendship
    • Translation and adaptation theories, medieval and modern
    • Adaptation, transformative works theories, and medievalisms

Particular teaching experience:

  • Old and Middle English language & reading skills
  • Medieval literature taught through genre and comparative studies
  • Cross-period first year teaching, with emphasis on research and analysis skills
  • Experience teaching interdisciplinary units and teaching cross-disciplinary historical skills to English majors
  • Academic writing for non-native speakers
  • Managing e-learning platforms
